GK tokamak simulations

Using GS2 to study zonal flow/streamer interactions, with Barrett Rogers, Mike Kotschenreuther, and Greg Hammett.

Here is a paper describing our work that recently appeared in PRL.

Here is an MPEG movie of simulation data, taken from a "Cyclone" base case simulation of ITG turbulence. Note in particular the Kelvin-Helmholtz-like instability that breaks up the initial radial streamers and drives the zonal flows.

I'll post more MPEG movies here soon, showing the differences between ITG simulations above and below the tertiary instability threshold, and between ITG, ETG, and TEM turbulence.
